Welcome to Friends of Hampden EMS School 55.

We are an engaged and inclusive group of parents, alumni, boosters and all-around mustang fans who work to extend the impact of this much-loved community school. We see our role as rooted in advocacy — for our school, the children it serves and the community we all love here in Hampden.

Extending the impact.

Through our small grants program, teachers have diversified learning during the kids’ school days. We’ve funded walkabouts, expanded classroom reading nooks, brought after-school clubs to life, purchased art supplies and harvested plants that the kids have grown from seeds.

Creating a community.

School days provide a safe haven and slice of normalcy for kids during this challenging time in our shared history. Though our community life is far from normal right now, Friends of Hampden 55 has a rich history of fundraising through flamingos (Flock Party, anyone?), fun and fitness.

Inventing the future.

We help Hampden EMS School 55 to provide a foundational experience. Kids leave the school prepared to be good students, great citizens and future leaders, connected to our city and our neighborhood long after their Mustang days are behind them.

Our mission.

Rooted in a shared commitment to community, Friends of Hampden School #55 is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization.

We are proud to help Hampden Elementary Middle School 55 offer programming that public funding alone cannot, like enrichment & experiences.

Join us to help invent the future!

Our work.

One of our most impactful projects was the outdoor classroom- a learning feature that Friends of Hampden 55 helped to sponsor and build! Learn more here.

Creative school parents also designed and painted our school’s distinctive mural, created with love by these artists and our kids!

Finally, we work as one team to maintain our playground, which provides hours of active fun for not just our students, but for children and grandchildren throughout greater Hampden.
